Understanding the Times: Finding Truth in a World of Confusion

Have you noticed how “truth” seems to shift these days? Everyone’s got their truth, but if it changes from person to person… is it really truth at all?
Jesus didn’t say, “I’m one of many truths.” He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” (John 14:6)
That means truth isn’t just an idea — it’s a Person. When we build our lives on Him, we stand steady no matter how much the world around us changes.
"The sons of Issachar… had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do." — 1 Chronicles 12:32
Where All the Confusion Comes From
The chaos we’re seeing in culture didn’t just show up one day. It has roots and some of them go back to people like Karl Marx, who believed the world could fix itself without God.
He divided humanity into two camps, the oppressors and the oppressed and said salvation would come through revolution. But history shows what happens when we try to create paradise without heaven: fear, control, and heartbreak.
Even though classic Marxism faded, its ideas got a makeover. Today, it often shows up as Cultural Marxism — shifting the focus from class to identity: race, gender, sexuality, and power. It talks about justice but leaves out righteousness. It talks about compassion but not repentance. It sounds moral… but its foundation is rebellion.
Counterfeits Always Sound Good
That’s what makes them tricky. Cultural Marxism talks about justice but without God’s standards. It talks about love but doesn’t call anyone to freedom. It talks about unity but skips over forgiveness.
Real compassion doesn’t affirm what destroys; it restores what’s broken. Real justice starts with righteousness. Real unity only happens through Christ.
The Church’s Moment
If we’re going to stand firm in times like these, we need three things: truth, courage, and compassion.
- Truth, because the world doesn’t need more opinions — it needs something unshakable.
- Courage, because staying silent isn’t kindness — it’s surrender.
- Compassion, because behind every false belief is a person Jesus deeply loves.
We’re not called to blend in — we’re called to shine. Not to win arguments but to win hearts.
Growing in Discernment
You don’t spot counterfeits by studying every fake you recognize them by knowing the real thing. That’s why we stay rooted in God’s Word, in prayer, and in community. That’s how we train our hearts and minds.
And parents — this is huge for our kids. If we don’t disciple them, the culture will. If we don’t teach them TikTok will.
The Kingdom Still Stands
Here’s the good news: Jesus already won.
The Church isn’t supposed to play defense we’re on offense. The gates of hell can’t stop what God is building.
So let’s rise, stand, and shine. The world doesn’t need a new gospel it needs believers who actually live out the one we already have.
The counterfeits will crumble. But Christ’s Kingdom will last forever.
